  1. As you remark, to serve a constituency in full, the Councillor or Member of Parliament should live locally and within the ward that they represent. There are too many “bright stars” who live miles away from the constituency’s, being shoo’d in, purely for political power, with scant regard for the people who reside within.
I believe that it is called Party Politics and we can now see how good it is by observing the shambles that is Westminster.

    • Totally agree, dont vote for anyone who does not live in the area they are seeking to represent.
Guy shall miss our little chats.

  2. Sorry, I should have posted this first.
Farewell, and thanks for your past work on our behalf.

  3. Guy, you are aware of the high esteem in which you are held by many of us, many thanks for looking after our interests – you will be sorely missed, as I have already told you.

    Back to the topic.

If a candidate chooses to withhold their address from the public register I would not consider voting for them.

I will also strongly recommend friends & neighbours to not to vote for such candidates.

  4. Sorry to hear you are standing down, Guy. You have been an outstanding Councillor, always willing to listen to people in the ward and a great communicator.

I will miss you, as I am sure will the residents of the Downs ward.

Good luck with your next venture.

  5. Dear Mr Shepherd,

I would like to place on record my grateful thanks to you for keeping this household informed of local matters of importance since I joined your blog in February 2014 and wish you well in your ‘retirement’.

    Yours sincerely,

    Bill Woodward

  6. I would also like to thank you, especially for this fabulous Horndean Matters. I’ve been on the East Hants website and found it hard to find the election info I wanted. Went on here, and there it all is, all presented well and in a straightforward way
