The Bandstand at Merchistoun Hall has taken a great leap forward this year with the roof complete, scaffolding struck out and rendering finished. The fencing has been taken away and the project starting to look very tidy now.
The project, which is being built by students from Highbury College to help them gain practicable skills in real life settings, is heavily sponsored by local businesses. The Highbury College website is on this link Here.
‘We are very proud to be involved with this community project, the Horndean Bandstand. This opportunity gives our students access to real work in conditions that they will have to get used to once they finish college…wind, rain and the cold. Guy Shepherd has provided our staff and students with professional advice and keeps a keen eye on the quality of our staff and students’ work which adds to the credibility of the project where top class skills are expected. Our students will be including this Project in their CVs and I’m sure their prospective employers will be impressed by their involvement. Highbury College is open to working with other community organisations where they have projects that may require student involvement.’
