Fly tipping is a nuisance. Its a sorry reflection on some people in society and a cost we bear by providing waste collection services, household waste sites and also litter picking or clearing fly tipping. The community groups that support this by litter picking also play an important part in giving a clear message that this just isn’t acceptable.
What is the answer though?
EHDC covers the cost of waste bin collection. Do the recent cuts on opening hours at the Hampshire County Council funded waste recycling sites mean there will be an increase in fly tipping? How much fly tipping waste is commercial waste that would be dumped anyway? Has Peter robbed Paul by saving money at the waste recycling sites and increasing fly tipping. Will HCC impose further cuts? Should we place cameras about to catch people and how does the Data protection Act stop this…
EHDC will be debating this issue on Thursday 3rd November at the Council Chamber at Penns Place from 6:30pm – please come along and listen in!
