Last year the local litter picks organised by the councils and highways agency were affected by new rules following a number of deths amongst roadside litter picking crews and the need to agree new safe working procedure. while this (thankfully) none of East Hants’ workforce were affected, it did drag out the buildup of litter for a number of weeks.
This years Spring works have been planned out and the A3 central verge is the first area to be litter picked. this will be in the first 2 weeks of February with lane 2 closed while the work is carried out.
The A3 verge will be litter picked the first week of March and will require overnight closures of lane 1. The work should therefore be completed in time for the Clean for the Queen weekend on 5/6 March.
The only proviso for the above dates is the final permission from the Highways Agency to enter the highway which can only take place at the time, The road closure space is booked but final permission is dependent upon traffic flows, otherwise severe delays could result.
Hi Guy, time seems to be running out for this weekend and we have seen no evidence of the A3 cleanup that you mention. Are you able to find out if Highways England have rescheduled and provide an update?
