New Community Facilities for the Southern Parishes
The recent EHDC December 2015 Community Forum meeting focussed on the host of facilities that are already being built for the residents of Clanfield, Horndean and Rowlands Castle.
The display showing the new Cricket Pitch and Pavilion for Horndean attracted a lot of interest.
Cllr Shepherd, Horndean, outlined the various facilities that will come as part of the “Land East of Horndean” (LEOH) Development. There will be shops, a primary school, allotments, a football pitch and a large community building, 20 hectares of open space and much more – not forgetting the cricket pitch which will be part of the first phase.
Cllr Moon, Clanfield, described what is currently being built in Clanfield as a result of the development there. This includes a large sports hall for ball games, football pitch, allotments, MUGA and other facilities. Ken stressed that, like LEOH, these would be enjoyed by residents of all three of the Southern Parishes.
Cllr Malcom Johnson, District Councillor for Rowlands Castle, spoke of the great sports and community facilities already available in the village and the road safety improvements totalling over £400,000 that will be financed out of the developments at LEOH.
Cllr Lynn Evans, Horndean, highlighted the presentation about the Cricket Pitch and Pavilion and invited people to have a look, ask questions and fill in the questionnaire that will help Councillors to firm up on the specifications that will need to be provided to the Developer in the new year.
By kind permission of Brendan Charles, the display banners have been left in Merchistoun Hall until the 21st Dec when they will be on display at the HPC meeting at Jubilee Hall before returning to Merchistoun Hall. Questionnaires will be available at both venues and at the Parish Office in Blendworth Lane. Please do complete a questionnaire as your views are important to us and will help to inform the final design and uses.
We hope to see you at the HPC meeting and please click to view a copy of the consultation form for the Pavillion building where we would appreciate your feedback. LEoH pavilion questionnaire Blog
