So, in the last week the Steel Frame for the Merchistoun Hall Bandstand has been erected. This was very generously donated by Bourne Steel (who I worked for a number of years ago) and erected by Structural Steelcraft, a East Meon based fabrication and erection firm. The steel frame consists of 8 large columns, 8 roof steels, 8 perimeter joists and a centre connection beam and weighs 3 Ton in total. This very generous donation to the project has a true value of about £10,000. Ainscough Crane Hire very kindly donated free hire of a 40 Ton mobile crane to erect the steelwork.
Sincere thanks to Nick Hayes, Managing Director at Bourne, Nick Kazakos, MD of Structural Steel Craft and Tony Arnold, Manager of the Southampton Depot
