EHDC have organised a 9 week evening course which will help shed off the surplus Christmas Stuffing. Cllrs Lynn and David Evans from Horndean have signed up and invite you to join them. Cllrs Shepherd, Denston and Schillemore are giving them plenty of moral support but not committing any further at this point.
Many people turn to running to keep fit and stay active. It is one of the best ways to improve your physical and emotional wellbeing and all you need is a pair of trainers.
To help encourage more people to get off the couch and keep fit East Hampshire District Council, in Partnership with Victory Athletics Club and Innovations Fitness, are organising a number of ‘Couch to 5K’ beginner running schemes in 2015. The nine week course, funded through the Get Active Partnership, is ideal for those who have done no running previously and enables participants to gradually make the transition from walking to being able to run 3 miles by the end of the programme. With an emphasis on fun, socialising and making steps to being healthy the course is perfect for absolute beginners.
The nine week course is available to anyone over the age of 18 at a cost of just £15 per person.
Cllr Drew, Portfolio holder for Community said: “We are delighted with the success of this scheme and excited to be delivering more courses in 2015 with the hope of inspiring people to become active.”
The first course in 2015 will start on Wednesday 7th January from Horndean Technology College at 6pm.

If running proves too much I can thoroughly recommend Fitness First at Waterlooville. I’ve been going to their exercise classes since I retired 14 years ago and reckon it is one of the best decisions I have made healthwise
My wife and I have both done the ‘Couch to 5K’ … we can’t recommend it enough. The only tricky bit was making time to do it – once that is in place the rest is easy.
Nobody was more surprised than me to find out that at the end of following the programme I could run 3.5 miles in less than 28 minutes.
