Over the last few months there have been requests for improvements to roads and lighting in the area. Some of the completed and planned improvements are below:
Q – Entrance to the Co-Op on Drift Road is poorly lit – can an additional light column be installed?
A – As part of the street lighting renewals this was requested, planned in and has been installed.
Q – There is a property on my road where rubbish is building up to industrial levels. neighbours can not sell their homes and living here is hell.
A – After a 6 month process evidence of business use was established, enforcement action taken and the problem resolved
Q – On South Road there is a trip on the footpath near a new development
A – 4m of footpath will be re-surfaced
Q – One of the bus stops on Tarn Rise has no bin and litter from school children keeps ending up in the garden behind
A – Cant remove School Children but new bin fitted
Q – The new drainage by the bottom of the A3M Junction 1 is much better but water running off the fields opposite is washing soils and stones to the drainage which will be slowly blocking it. can the land owner opposite be made to put in a soakaway?
A – The Land Owner opposite is the Secretary of State so HCC will install one to reduce flooding further.
Q – There is a damaged manhole cover on my footway. Virgin Media are not responding to fix and EHDC, HCC are also chasing.
A – Photograph, some text and email to The Portsmouth News copied into Virgin Media Chief Executive and manhole fixed 3 days later
Q – The BT phone box on my road is an eyesore, can we get it removed?
A – After trying to get BT to repair it, Gift it, relocate it to Catherington or Horndean (all of which they declined) it is now on the BT programme for removal.
Q – There is a problem with bins on First Ave. they block the footpath and there are missing lids.
A – EHDC notified Radian and have written to residents.
