I can be a NIMBY as much as any other person, but like everyone reading this need gas and oil for electricity, heating and transport. If some of this can come from the UK rather than Arab States or Russia where we can gain some energy security and at a lower price, then bring it on. Clearly we need to keep these extraction sources to locations where they do not impact on the community, and the nodding donkeys which have, for decades, been located in Horndean are examples of how this can take place without intrusion. So to are the 450 sites already undergoing fracking in the UK which have not resulted in destruction, groundwater contamination and desecration. In fact the only thing that is new about this process which has been going on for decades is the media interest.
Given the interest in Fracking at West Sussex, Hampshire County Council have produced an informative and useful fact sheet on Fracking. This shows the oile exploration sites as well as licences for other mineral rights. Hampshire County Council does not know of any plans for shale gas extraction, or fracking in Hampshire which will please anyone with unsatisfied concerns. Please click on the link below.
