Just before Christmas residents on London Road received a consultation letter about a proposed development of 50 to 70 houses. This has caused some outrage, and rightly so, as the suggested land is in the South Downs National Park, would take up a field, has poor access, and is not a site that has been considered for development. It appears the land owner is suggesting that access might be through the Gales Site, something of a surprise to the Gales marketing suite who are selling the new homes with views over the national park.
As this is in the South Downs National Park, it is highly unlikely to be given any approval, but it is also essential that as many people as possible respond to the consultation to say “no” so that we stop this dead.
The consultation document from the land owners agents is here: Anchor Field Consultation
