The Remembrance day service in Horndean which is organised annually by Horndean Parish Council had a record turnout this year with estimates of 800 to 1000 attending.
The parade was very well represented by local organisations including Royal British Legion, Army Cadets, ATC, Scouts, Guides and Brownies.
Vice Admiral Sir Geoffrey Dalton KCB and wife Jane led the traditional remembrance day message:
“When you go home, tell them of us and say, For your tomorrow we gave our today”.
The Parish Council has some great photographs which were taken by Cllr Veitch and can be viewed here: http://www.horndeanpc-hants.gov.uk/gallery/gallery.pl
Thank you to the Blendworth Brass Band and also Pam from HPC who organised the ceremony on behalf of The Parish.
HIND (Horndean In The Next Decade) is the organisation that is preparing The Parish Plan, a document that will help shape the development of the Parish of Horndean. The AGM is being held on Wednesday 5th December 2012 at Napier Hall from 7:00pm. Napier Hall is next to the Colonial Bar. This meeting is to accept the final version of the Parish Plan and to vote on its submission to HPC and EHDC for acceptance. It is also a meeting where the current Steering Group stand down, and an implementation team pick up the mantle and take this forwards.
If you are interested in improving the community you live in without becoming a Councillor, then this would be a great way to take part locally. Please contact Susan Langham on Susan.firstname.lastname@example.org
The community plan can be viewed on this web link here http://horndeancommunityplan.org.uk/
HIND would like to Sincerely thank and acknowledge the hard work of Steve Dawson, HIND Secretary over the last few years. Steve has had to stand down with immediate effect (3rd November 2012) following a serious family crisis, and our thoughts are with Steve, Lis and family at this difficult time.
